77 Idea Lab: Enrique Latino

By: Hunter Mylek

Who is Enrique Latino?

“My name is Enrique. I am from Berrien Springs, Michigan and I am an Entrepreneurship and Marketing major. My hobbies include playing sports such as golf and soccer. I also like to hang out with friends whenever I can and I love making music. I’ve been learning and playing various instruments since middle school and have brought that passion to my studies. In the hopes of combining my school experience and passions for my career, once I graduate.”

What is One Take Recording?

“My business is called One Take Recording. It is an in-person and online service that helps
musicians learn how to navigate the online space of making music and teaching them how to
record their own music in a cost-effective manner.”

What inspired these ideas?

I have always loved music and I have learned multiple instruments along the way. Like many
others, I eventually wanted to start a band, which I did. Being a college student I didn’t have the
most money to spend on going to a studio and recording. Along with not knowing what to look
for or do, I knew I’d waste my time. I eventually taught myself how to record, produce and
promote my own music, through hours of articles, failed songs, youtube videos, and
collaboration. Which sparked the idea of finding a way to make it easier for beginner musicians
to find out how to record if they didn’t have the most money.
What sealed the deal on my business idea was joining a music production club and seeing how
many musicians had no idea how to make a song. Their potential would never leave the room
simply because they didn’t know how to record their own music or because it was too
confusing for them to know what to buy, what to record, and how to properly record.

What do you hope to achieve through the 77 Idea Lab?

In the 77 idea lab, I hope to be able to start a foundation for my business, that I can continue to
work/improve on after the program is done. Along with that, I hope to get more experience with
working with others and get more insight on how to run a business.
One thing I learned from making my own music is that sometimes you just have to go out and
put something out there. Even if it’s terrible because you get to experience actually doing it and
eventually you learn and get better at it. Being with the 77 idea lab, I hope to get the same
result. I know my first business will not be the best and I won’t know everything I need to but
through the program, I hope to be able to learn what I need to. With the help of like-minded
individuals and mentors, I feel that I will be able to get help on the things that slow me down.
Which will start to create a foundation for the business to grow.

If you are interested in joining the 77 Idea lab in the future all you need is a passion for a problem that is worth solving. The 77 Idea Lab will help develop the idea and business around the problem through one-on-one mentoring, workshops, with a chance to get a $1,000 grant.
