77 Idea Lab: Lilly Campbell

By: Hunter Mylek

Who is Lilly Campbell?

“I’m a senior at Grand Valley studying Graphic design. I played soccer at Ferris my first year and then transferred to GV. I enjoy working out, hanging out with friends, and playing sports.”

What is PlayX?

“My business idea is called PlayX. Now that the rule changed where college athletes are now able to get paid based on their name, image, likeness. PlayX will be events/camps that are hosted by athletes that other athletes will be able to come to and connect with different brands. This helps get their name out there and creates opportunities for them to be paid/work with brands. They would be able to play at these camps and they would be designed specifically for the athlete’s sport. At the camp, they would be able to connect with brands, fans, and another athlete.”

What inspired this idea?

I’ve played sports growing up and went on to play college soccer. My whole life has been very geared towards sports and that’s always something that I have loved. I started working for a company called play booked which is the center for getting these athletes connected with brands. This helped form the idea of PlayX to have a separate event to get these athletes to come. Working alongside other people that have the same passions in sports and working with college athletes has helped form this idea.

What do you hope to achieve through 77 Idea Lab?

“I hope in 77 idea labs that overall, I can form a better foundation for PlayX. But I would also like to just get to know more about entrepreneurship. I am a graphic design major so I think this class will not only be helpful to pair with my major but it will help me further my knowledge for this business idea.”

If you are interested in joining the 77 Idea Lab in the future all you need is a passion for a problem that is worth solving. The 77 Idea Lab will help develop the idea and business around the problem through one-on-one mentoring, workshops, with a chance to get a $1,000 grant.
